Barring a special appearance in PK (2014), Ranbir Kapoor (left) is working with Rajkumar Hirani (below) for the first time, and the actor is apparently impressed with the film-maker’s dedication to his craft. A source says that Ranbir, who is playing the lead role in Hirani’s biopic on Sanjay Dutt’s life, was apparently impressed with how the film-maker’s set operates and sticks to schedules. A source says, “Ranbir is a dedicated actor and will do all it takes for a role. He is a complete director’s actor, and respects his filmmaker’s vision. So when he walked into the film’s set on the first day, he was impressed with the way things functioned. The entire set is designed to operate like clockwork — everyone has a schedule to stick to and finish their work on time. All this is planned in advance. Moreover, the set is quiet. The only audible voice is Hirani’s when he says ‘action’ and ‘cut’. It’s rare to work on such a quiet set or witness a set such as Hirani’s. It is common knowledge that the filmmaker doesn’t like people using mobile phones on the set, and unlike other directors, doesn’t allow the crew and actors to take long breaks between shots. All this has helped Ranbir concentrate on his shots and deliver good performances.”

A spokesperson for the film confirmed the news, saying, “Hirani’s sets are an extension of his own personality. Although he isn’t a taskmaster, he has his own way of dealing with people and ensuring that the work is wrapped up in record time.”

RANBIR IS A DEDICATED ACTOR AND WILL DO ALL IT TAKES FOR A ROLE. HE IS A COMPLETE DIRECTOR’S ACTOR, AND RESPECTS HIS FILM-MAKER’S VISION.
