DRESS TO IMPRESS

-

Apparels play an important role in day-to-day life of every individuals and power dressing plays an effective role in both personal and professional life. NIFT Rae Bareli director Dr Bharat Shah, delivering a keynote address during the national seminar held at Amity School Fashion Technology, said, “Personal branding is most important in any sector whether it’s personal or professional. It is important to use dress code according to the place and situation. It is significant to present the good package for the brand that is you.”

Earlier, the event was inaugurated by Dr Shah and Bollywood singer Anupama Raag in presence of ASFT director prof Pooja Verma. The singer, who is also a bureaucrat, in her address said, “I believe in being oneself and dress according to my level of comfort. A lot of top people try to copy some celebrity’s style which is a wrong thing to do. We all have some strong and weak points. So, dressing should be such that is highlights your strength and covers-up your weakness.”

Raag added that she doesn’t consult any stylist for her day to day dressing. But for her shoots a professional help is a must as one has to cater larger audience. She became nostalgic being on the campus where she had shot her musical video with ace-singer Mika Singh.

Fashion designer Arshi Jamal, Ashima Gagoi, Pooja Singh and entrepreneur Gaurav Goswami chaired various sessions on the seminar topic ‘Power dressing an effective way to success and its significant effect on self-esteem and confidence’.

During his session designer Jamal quoted an old adage: Dress for the job you want. He said, “Dressing, like a power player is a perfect recipe of success with wardrobe staples, fresh accessories, flattering colours and proportions as ingredients. A clear advice would be to choose multi-purpose fabrics that one can switch from season to season and also add a few innovations with the current season’s favourite colour and accessories.”
