ANTI ROMEO SQUAD: WHAT’S IN A NAME!

As the new government had promised in its manifesto, the formation of ‘AntiRomeo Squad’ is finally done and is on a roll for more than a week. The reason stated was that squad will keep a check on eveteasing cases.

Deployed near malls, university campuses and parks if they find boys roaming around or standing outside women educationa­l institutes or other public places is ground enough to be detained as a “Romeo” by the police.

According to youngsters, from the state, this is a good move and the situation needs to be dealt with strict actions.

But in the midst of ranking the move there a few who definitely have an issue with the term Romeo being openly used with the entire movement. The name originated from Shakespear­e’s famous novel and play Romeo and Juliet. And the play proves that Romeo was no eve-teaser and instead was a clearheade­d lover of his time. To find out what’s there in the name or is there everything in the name, HT City spoke to a few youngsters to know their take on the name game.
