Cheerful and simple is what actor Meera Deosthale comes across as a person. In Lucknow to promote her ongoing show, she talks about her preferences as an actor and her journey so far.

“My mother has always taught me to do what I love. So while during school days I wanted to be an engineer, I realized later that academics was not my cup of tea. When I told my parents that I enjoyed acting and dancing, they never questioned me and instead we came to Mumbai and rest is history,” she says.

On being asked about being a trained actor and dancer she adds, “Upgrading yourself or sharpening your skills is very important but at the same time if you love something and enjoy it then your talent surfaces and it develop into one’s real passion. Since I’m not from a filmy background on my parent’s behest I joined Roshan’s Media School of Acting in Andheri. But I know now acting is something you can learn or unlearn in a lifetime.” Denying that her current show promotes regressive approach to life she says, “I don’t agree with this. The protagonist of my showChakor has not lost her identity ever and neither the show deviated from its path. This is a story of bonded labours and child slavery and this is something that has been happening in our country ever since. So my show is only showing that has been happening in our society and then also it’s a story of Chakor’s fight against all odds in her life be it personal or professional. And why do we forget that TV is for entertainment of course we are watching and so what we have to do is to entertain the audience in sync with the storyline.”

Meera has always admitted her inclination towards dancing. “O yes dancing is something I just love to do. That’s why when my channel offered me to perform in a ward show to be held this month I could not say no. Dance keeps me excessively happy. But before I land into serious dancing I need to definitely sharpen my skills as I dancer.”

With three shows already done since she started in 2014, the actor says her journey as an actor has been interesting so far. “To be honest I did choose Udaan but when I was offered Dilli Wali Thakur Gurls or an episodic for Zindagi Wins I had to say yes because I was new and I wanted to step into the industry and become visible. That was the priority at that point of time. But when Udaan happened I was all upbeat about the script but was terrified because of the language used in the show. I was very hesitant and after several takes I got the hang of the language. But I’m thankful to god that since the start till now, it has been a good journey for me.”
