After Tanu Weds Manu (2011) released, R Madhavan took a fouryear break. He was back on screen with Tanu Weds Manu Returns(2015) but didn’t go on a signing spree because, he says, “he has to choose subjects that are cinemaworthy”. But now that he is back, he has his plate full, with seven films in his kitty.

Talking about it, Madhavan says, “I didn’t sign a film for four years but like they say, when it rains, it pours. I am glad to be back the set. More than me, my wife is also glad to not see me sprawled on the couch. The break genuinely helped me and I am back, feeling refreshed,” the Saala Khadoos (2016) actor says.

Madhavan’s next film is Sushant Singh Rajput-starrer Chanda Mama Door Ke, in which he plays a pilot. “It is too premature to talk about it now but I am happy to be a part of this film. Sanjay (Puran Singh), the director is so clear and well-researched on the subject and Sushant and Nawazuddin (Siddiqui) are extraordinary talents,” he says. Besides films, recently, he was in the news for his new photo shoot. Some of the pictures went viral and he was pleasantly surprised to know that he had a new image – sexy.

“It’s weird when people call me sexy at 47. My parents look at me weirdly and ask me to behave my age. They’re at a time when they’re exposed to social media and somehow, a lot of people tag them in all these stories that I was called sexy in. I said, I haven’t done anything to be called sexy. It’s just a photo shoot.’ People now look at me strangely (laughs),” says the actor.
