I’m not comfortable playing my private life and displaying my emotions in public. The popularity quotient soars up, but I’m not convinced PREETIKA RAO, ACTOR

Actor Preetika Rao (right) might not be seen in any TV show or a film at the moment, but the actor has no qualms about taking it slow and steady on the career front. Even if nothing is working at the moment, Preetika is pretty sorted about her choices.

Ask her if there are plans to try luck in Bollywood like elder sister Amrita Rao, the actor says that every time she got an offer, she was already signed for a TV show, so she couldn’t accept any of them. “Also, I think, once you’re established as a TV actor, Bollywood filmmakers start thinking that you don’t want to act in films. It’s like automatically a big no signal to Bollywood; at least that’s how it has been for me,” says Preetika, adding, “I know that offers will definitely not be pouring in as much as it could have been if I’d not debuted in television.”

Preetika started her small screen journey with daily soap Beintehaa in December, 2013 and for the next eleven months, she went on to become a household name. Daily soaps apart, when asked, Preetika doesn’t see herself being part of a reality show any time soon.“For some strange reason, I am the kind of a person who feel I should just work and come back home. I don’t like to be out there. I’m not someone who would be comfortable playing my private life and displaying my emotions in public, which is what reality shows are all about. So that’s not my comfort zone. The popularity quotient soars up, but somehow I won’t be convinced to do it,” says Preetika who had refused to be on Bigg Boss in the past.
