Beat the heat this summer

- Vikas Bhandari

My esteemed readers it’s that time of the year again when stepping outside without dabbing your face in sunscreen lotions becomes a taboo, when in your bathrooms you only get Hot water out from both the taps. When your car overheats before you even drive it. Not only does it feel like a human microwave Owen most of the time but also you are sure to have your hands burnt opening the car door itself. Talking about Cars, the best parking places during these days are determined by the amount of shade they offer. What’s more you break a sweat the instant you step outside at 6:30 a.m. that too well before you even say the word ‘jogging’.

Doesn’t it feel like in every summer the temperatures are getting harder to endure? So Here I am today, about to tell something you all might have been waiting for, some supercool ways to beat the heat this summer!

So let’s get started. Firstly, limit strenuous activity at any cost especially jogging, running et al. For example, fitness buffs should avoid jogging outside, instead stay inside and have a bowl of ice cream. This will not only keep you cool but the extra fat will help insulate you from scorching sun and heat wave. Then try this, I read it somewhere, I don’t know how effective it is but maybe worth trying- go for a ride with the windows up and the car heater cranked up full blast. Park in a crowded parking lot, step out of the car and exclaim aloud for all to hear, “What a refreshingly cool afternoon!” Or better still, when in the crowded parking lot just look around for the most sturdy guy, walk up to him and punch him hard in the gut. Then when he jabs you back, you might just get “Knocked out Cold”!

Always Say ‘No’ to drugs. Everybody knows that this makes you “cool”!

Alternatively, you may also mellow out some of the affection in your relationship and your girlfriend might just tag you as a “cold-hearted” pig.

Here’s another one, for the SPF buffs (folks who always ask the chemist ‘bhaiya kitna SPF hai?’), try using SPF 5000 sunblock lotion(going purely on facts, since cosmetics companies double the SPF figure every subsequent summer, this figure and the price doesn’t seem very far from reality). Now soak outside in the afternoon sun for two hours non-stop and make people around you J. Lastly, keep visiting that nearby ATM kiosk frequently, (draw out only Rs 500 on each visit) it’s free air conditioning after all and who knows when there might be another demonitisation, you would be well stocked with the change at least!
