Time to snap ties with Snapchat?
The Snapchat controversy is heating up with Snap. inc— the parent company of short video-clips-based social media platform – denying the statement-”This app is only for rich people. I don’t want to expand into poor countries like India and Spain,” CEO of Snapchat Evan Spiegal had said in 2015.
Former employee Anthony Pompliano, who was fired by Snapchat, claimed Spiegel told him this during a meeting in 2015. Pompliano’s statement has definitely created enough ripples and ruffled quite a few feathers amongst Snapchat’s Indian users and very soon #BoycottSnapchat surfaced on social media, urging users to get unified and to give the app a one-star rating and then uninstall it as a sign of protest.
We all love the filters that Snapchat gives us. Chatting with our friends via pictures and uploading stories to show how your day has been quite hit among the youngsters till Pompliano’s allegations sparked controversy. Even after denial from the company people are not ready to forget and forgive. According to a news report the ratings on the app fell sharply overnight, as netizens rushed to defend their nation without understanding that the statement can be mere allegations that had to be proven in a court of law.
