Hrithik Roshan manages to strike gold at the box office, each time he works on a film directed by his father, Rakesh Roshan. Starting with his debut film, Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai (2000) till the last one Krrish 3 (2013), the father-son duo has an unmatched track record. Hrithik, however, says that working with his father isn’t always a cakewalk. “While I have worked with my dad a lot of times, I am actually comfortable with every director. Of course, my relationship with other directors is fragile, and not the same as the one with dad. On other directors’ set, I am an actor, and my work ends there. But, with dad, I know that he won’t be able to hide anything from me,” says the actor whose last release Kaabil got him rave reviews.

Hrithik credits his father’s astute sense of business for the success of their ventures. “My father is a great businessman. When I am working with him, I am assured that finances will never go wrong because he is very concerned about money and investments.” In the same breath, he, however, adds that it comes with its own disadvantages. “I can’t afford to take my own sweet time to get ready for a shot. Dad is very particular about deadlines. So, we are always working to finish a project on time and can’t be laid-back. On other people’s sets, I am the star. Here, I am just another person on the set.”

While being acutely aware of his own strengths and weaknesses as an actor, Hrithik says that he has never been jealous of another actor’s talent.

“When I saw Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, I absolutely loved Ranbir (Kapoor) and Anushka (Sharma). But I have never felt that I could’ve done that role better. That thought never crosses my mind. I don’t get jealous of another actor’s success,” he explains.
