Bobby Ramani, Lucknow
CATEGORY- Ideator
Bobby Ramani, 28, was a regular girl with a regular job, but as it always goes, contentment was missing. A great daughter to a mother, a greater sister to a brother with special needs, Bobby’s first priority was always family. Even after a tiring day at work, she would come back home and take them out for a long drive and spend some quality with the family. With time jobs get more demanding and our personal lives start to suffer. But, Bobby was one of the very few ones who dared to change that and break that pattern. She switched over to an almost different and a lot tougher life altogether.
Looking at her brother grow through and against all the differences, taking care of him, she understood the pros and cons of autism very deeply. She wanted to do something for the specially-abled because she saw how socially awkward and hard their family’s lives were. Within 3 months after she quit her job, she had started I Support Foundation (ISF), a NGO of her own.
ISF is an organization with an idea to educate and develop underprivileged autistic children, also running a 45 kids’ (currently) school in Lucknow that manages their academics. Recognizing the need for a powerful voice has made extraordinary advancements in the autism community. Chief among these are increased awareness of autism, better understanding of the breadth of the autism spectrum, and advocacy to increase research and access to care and support.
