Brijendra Srivastava, Lucknow

- NOMINATED BYPRATEEKSHA SRIVASTAVA

CATEGORY- The Man Behind Successful Woman My father, Brijendra Srivastava, was born in a conservative family but he grew up being a rational and righteous person. He has two daughters Prateeksha and Priyanshi, who say that he has raised them to be powerful persons. “Not to forget, I didn’t have the slightest idea of gender discrimination until I stepped out of my house,” says Prateeksha.

Brijendra treats them like ordinary children who should be taught to be right and good. Going against the conventions, he always believed that God has made everybody equal. For good education of his daughters, Brijendra left his well-earning government job in Sitapur and moved to Lucknow. He started working part time in Study Hall as a music teacher and continued with his live performances and radio programmes. He currently takes care of the 63-year-old music school in Sitapur, which is for only women. “It is because of his guidance in music and his encouragement that we emerged as the finalists and semi finalists of not one but four singing reality international shows,” said Prateeksha. Brijendra turned a deaf year to all the orthodox people who want to chain down the females. Prateeksha said, “Even our brothers are not able to be as independent as we are.”

“We daughters are blessed to have him as our father. He is our guru as a music teacher and teaches many people (who are dedicated) for free.
