My husband makes each day special: Sunny Leone

Actor Sunny Leone turns 36 today, and she’s ringing in her birthday with her husband, Daniel Weber, in Los Angeles. The actor is quite unlike other Bollywood stars who celebrate their birthdays with pomp and big parties.

About today’s plans, she says, “I’ll hopefully get to see my friends and brother. That’s all I can ask for or need for my birthday. I just like quiet dinners and seeing family. I’m quite simple, not the birthday celebrating type.”

Recalling her fondest birthday memories, Sunny says it was with her parents. “My last birthday that I cherish was when my parents were still alive — my mother baking me a cake, and the four of us together, and getting hugs and kisses from my family,” says the actor, who has been in films such as Jism 2 (2012), Ragini MMS (2014) and Ek Paheli Leela (2015).

A special gift that she will never forget? “An emerald necklace that Daniel gave me. It has one of his mother’s diamonds in it — a family diamond — because I never got that from my parents when I got married.”

Other than this, Sunny says, “Daniel makes me feel special every day. I don’t need a birthday for that. He’s always thinking of me and getting me special gifts, small or big.”

Though Sunny admits that she likes surprises, she doesn’t look forward to her birthday for any surprise gifts. “I only want my husband and brother to wish me happy birthday,” she says, “and the rest is icing on the cake.”
