All set for ‘musical’ literary festival!

The state capital is set to witness a four-day precursor to the Lucknow Literature Festival from Friday. The first three-days will see literary events at Jaipuria Institute of Management auditorium while the concluding day will have a vintage car rally that will conclude at Carlton Hotel.

Author Yatindra Mishra, who won Swarna Kamal at the 2017 National Awards held earlier this month, will be in conversati­on with LLF founder director Kanak Rekha Chauhan on the opening day of the event. He will talk about the book Lata Sur Gatha which won him the National Award. “I am from Awadh and talking about music, culture and Lataji (Mangeshkar) in Lucknow is going to be a special moment,” says Mishra.

The day will also see a musical performanc­e by young singers. “Music and talks will go hand-in-hand,” tells Kanak and adds, “On Day3, Bollywood’s famous lyricist Irshad Kamil will be in conversati­on with RJ Stutee Ghosh. He will be supported with singer Prajakta Shukre and a guitarist.” Irshad has penned hits numbers such as Ajj Din Chadeya, Twist, Dooriyan, Tum Se Hi, Mauja Hi Mauja and Nagada Nagada

Saturday will witness literary evening Katha Kathan that will have stories of Premchand, Ravindrana­th Tagore, Manto and Ismat Chughtai. “This is an initiative by Jameel Gulrays who belongs to Gorakhpur but is settled in Mumbai. Katha Kathan was launched in Mumbai with the concern a concern for literature in regional languages which might just become dialects.”

The concluding day will have Holly-Bollywood Vintage Car-Vaan in which city’s very own Begum Hamida Habibullah will be the chief guest.
