Thinking of wearing a Benarasi lehenga or sari? The colour and drape you choose can make all the difference in your look for the occasion. Wondering why a Benarasi sari in summer in the first place? They are known as all-weather saris because of their adaptability. And, the fabric is stylish nevertheless. Here’s how to go about it:

FOR THE MAIN FUNCTION

You can unhesitatingly opt for detailed weaves with no borders. This style looks great on colours such as fuchsia, off-white, gold and pastel hues. To complete the look, opt for exquisite South Indian temple jewellery.

FOR A DAY EVENT

If you are wearing a Benarasi sari or a lehenga, you must try and choose the traditional jaal either for your sari or blouse. But if you are not very fond of the jaal work, you can go for the designs with small bootis for your traditional attire. Since the function is during the day, the light colours like lime, orange, mint green can be the best ones for your ensemble.

Not in the mood to sport a lehenga or sari? Here’s a western twist: Team your sari with a pair of denims. This look is chic and contemporary. For jewellery, pick pearl earrings or a neckpiece or both. Get a messy bun done with some gajra and you are good to go.

FOR SAGAN CEREMONY, MEHENDI OR HALDI

It often gets tricky when deciding what exactly to wear for such occasions. Sport a meenakari weave sari or lehenga with a touch of bandhej which makes the whole attire unique. Colours such as blue, green, rose gold accentuate the beauty of the meenakari weaves. Team up the outfit with heavy gold jhumkas and a middle parting bun.

COLOURS SUCH AS LIME, ORANGE, MINT GREEN CAN LOOK GREAT FOR DAY FUNCTIONS, WHILE FUCHSIA AND GOLD ARE APT FOR A NIGHT DO
