‘My kids do get star-struck’

Juhi Chawla on how her daughter adores Deepika Padukone and Varun Dhawan

Actor Juhi Chawla (below) often talks about how her kids, son Arjun and daughter Jhanvi (right), haven’t seen any of her popular films from the ’90s, and still, she wishes that they grow up to be actors. And even though both her kids have other career plans, they do get star-struck on seeing or meeting a top Bollywood actor.

Ask Juhi, if there has ever been such a moment, she reveals that her daughter often gets awestruck when she sees Deepika Padukone or Varun Dhawan on-screen. “Jhanvi has always been a fan of Deepika and once the actor had come over and I think Jhanvi must have been quite in a daze.” Really? “Yes, she was. Come on, it’s natural for my kids,” Juhi adds.

Juhi recalls how she used to interact with star kids, who’ve now turned into big stars, while shooting for her films back then. “I have seen Varun [Dhawan] as a kid around, though I haven’t worked with him. Whenever we went outdoors during Deewana Mastana (1997), David [Dhawan] Ji’s kids would come along. We had a 20-day schedule in Toronto. We had spent time in the bus and Id chat with Rohit [Dhawan] and Varun and I have their pictures. Today, Varun has become a star and when my daughter says ‘oh he is so cool, so nice and so handsome’, I’d be like God, wow! How time flies!”

Is there anything in particular that Jhanvi admires about Deepika or Varun? “She likes their personalities, loves to watch their films and follows them on social media. I can’t recollect details of what she said about them, but she did mention that she likes

Deepika as an actor.”
