ankaj Tripathi will soon be seen with superstar Rajinikanth in the Tamil film Kaala. The actor admits that the reason he signed the film was the opportunity to work with the actor. The actor says that after having worked with him, he now realises what qualities have made him a legend.

“Not everyone can handle success, but look at Rajinikanth. His films release all over India, his fans worship him, but when I first met him, I felt like he is one of us. I am in awe of him. He is a great star, yet so easy-going and grounded. I have never seen his films, but I had seen promos and songs from his movies and had heard so much about him that I was looking for an opportunity to work with him,” says Pankaj, whose last film Newton, is India’s official entry to Oscars 2018. And the actor shares that Rajinikanth had watched the trailer and liked it.

Pankaj can’t stop praising Rajinikanth. “He is caring as a person, who would make sure that I had my food on time and that I was getting enough rest. I’d heard stories about his Himalayan retreats and wanted to know more about it. So, when I asked him [about them], he explained that those are his spiritual trips,” says the actor.

Meanwhile, after appearing in two successful films — Bareilly Ki Barfi and Newton — on the trot, Pankaj is happy that he is being able to impress the audience with his kind of work. “I just don’t play a character for the heck of it. I always look for a human element in every character that I play,” he signs off.
