Sonam’s charitable side

Sonam Kapoor has long been involved with various philanthropic activities for issues such as breast cancer, besides lending her support to the LGBTQ community. In the latest instance, the actor – alongside ex-cricketer Kapil Dev — will be participating in an NGO’s event today at the District Sports Office Ground in Dharavi. The Neerja (2016) actor will also interact with the children who are cared for by the different programmes of the organisation.

“Sonam has been a regular face at various charity events and never hesitates to lend a helping hand when it comes to such activities. She was recently approached to be part of this social cause for an NGO, and although she is busy shooting her next film (Veere Di Wedding), she immediately agreed to make time for the event,” says a source.

When contacted, Sonam told HT Café, “I am very happy to lend my support to the wonderful work that Magic Bus does, especially since they endeavour to try and change the lives of children and youth who still face a difficult life.”

Adding that such projects can help “change the face of our country”, Sonam says she feels great that many of the children who benefited [from the NGO’s projects] have come back as volunteers and leaders to help pass on their wisdom and experience to another generation.
