W ith the onset of the wedding season this year, the brides-to-be are on a shopping binge. They are not just making a beeline to malls and city stores but many amongst them are busy shopping online. Be it for after wedding parties, casuals or even bridal trousseau and accessories for that matter; online buying trend is catching up in small towns too. HT City spoke to a few excited brides-to-be who enjoy exploring the online shopping haven.

For January bride, Richa Jhingran it’s all about finding time, “Being a busy professional and extreme choosy by nature it seriously gets difficult for me to complete my wedding shopping. My work schedule also never allows me the luxury of taking time off for my wedding preparations. That is when I started looking for online shopping options and found it quite convenient. There were options of customizations, live chats with experts and I could compare a range of designer wear on phone and laptop irrespective of where I was at that time. To my surprise I actually did complete my research and also finalised my list. I must say online shopping is way more convenient, time and money saving too.”

Many shopaholics find it easier to compare price, features, brands and get latest updates about any products just with a click of a mouse and this is why more and more brides prefer buying online.

Another would be bride Eema Naqvi is all about shopping at your leisure. “Going out to explore in mall and stores, car parking is a sheer nuisance. Also car park charges are so high that it puts me off. With online shopping you not only get an escape from all this but you can also shop interrupted without any annoying shop assistants and their suggestions. I really consider myself lucky to be getting married in times where shopping is just a click away. It is actually a blessing, especially for a lazy person like me. So these days I’m just exploring new designs especially for my bridal trousseau and am happy that I can explore amongst unlimited international brands and labels with just a click.”

The online portals too are enjoying the footfall and expecting business better than festivals. It is raining deals and discounts online. For instance, several fashion portals have created a separate ‘wedding’ section on its site with discounts of 40-60% on beauty items, lingerie and footwear.

Another bride-to-be Ariba Zafar is making the best of both virtual and real shopping. “I always wanted an elegant wedding. I wanted all my prep to be at par but am short on time as my wedding is slated for December. It’s turning into a real challenge for me. So much to shop and within such a short time span! Also visiting markets every now and then to have a look at fashion trends is getting tedious for me and then I’m not an online shopping freak. So I took a middle way out. Now I just choose fashion trends online and then visit a single store with my list. No doubt variety available online is vast and I too got to know about the latest in jewellery trends online. ”
