LLF PROMISES TO BE AN EXCITING EVENT
Film directors Vishal Bhardwaj and Imtiaz Ali, poet-writer-lyrist Javed Akhtar, actor-writer Piyush Mishra, writer-singer Swanand Kirkire, lyricist Irshad Kamil, Indian women cricket stars Mithali Raj and Veda Krishnamurthy will be prominent among those attending the fifth edition of the Lucknow Literature Festival (LLF) 2017.
The LLF will be held from November 17 to 19 at Indira Gandhi Pratisthan. It will open with the inaugural address by Costa Rica ambassador to India Mariela Cruz Alvarez. She will also launch the book ‘The Vanishing Stripes’ by Jai Mohan and Akash Mohan. The keynote address will be by BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav.
“The three day event will celebrate a unique amalgamation of Indian art, music, theatre, film, food, photography, talks and much more. The sessions in the main event highlight and provide a platform to both established and emerging talents from the city as well as eminent personalities from across the globe,” says Kanak Rekha Chauhan, founder director of the Lucknow Expressions Society which is organising the event. LLF president Jaideep Mathur was also present on the occasion.
The opening day will see a session on ‘Women in Ramayana’ with Sulkhan Singh, Sadhna Srivastava, Shailja Kant Mishra and Yatindra Mishra taking part in it.
There will be another session on ‘Books, Cinema & Women’ by Vani Tripathi Tikko, Anubhav Sinha, Sunita Aron and Guru Prakash. The ‘Vyang Sandhya’ will have Ashok Chakradhar, Abhigyan Prakash and Ranjeet Chauhan. Seema Biswas will have a session on ‘Gusty Morning’ while ‘Kuch Der Ghazal Ke Sohbat Main’ will have Khushbir Singh Shaad, Fahrat Ehsas, Shariq Kaifi, Manish Shukla and Ranjeet Chauhan. The day will end with performance by Sajda Boyz.
The second day will open with session ‘Whose Nationalism Is it Anyway’ which will have Atul Tiwari, Govindacharya, Salman Khurshid and Atul Anjaan. Swanand Kirkire will launch his book ‘Aap Kamai’. ‘Gata Rahe Mera Dil’ will have Kausar Munir, Yatindra Mishra, Swanand Kirkire and Abhigyan Prakash. Vishal Bhardwaj will be in talks with Surabhi Modi on ‘Shakespeare Wallah Love’. The day will also see session ‘Kush Ishq Kiya, Kuch Kaam Kiya’ with Piyush Mishra and Zeeshan Ayub. The day will conclude with a ‘shayarana’ evening by Irshad Kamil.
The eventful concluding day will see Shabana Azmi, Maj Gen Vibha Dutta, Sagarika Ghosh, Padma Shri Jayanta Mahapatra and others. Team India stars Mithali Raj and Veda Krishnamurthy will be felicitated on the occasion and will also do a session with Rajdeep Sardesai. There will be a session on ‘Virasat Ki Rajneeti’ by Sunita Aron. Javed Akhtar will book launch ‘Films and Songs’ and interact with actor-writer Atul Tiwari. LLF will conclude with Junoon-e-Ishq evening with charismatic Imtiaz Ali.
