COMEDY TADKA AT THEATRE FESTIVAL
The eighth season of Repertwahr festival is set to host more than 150 artistes from across the country, featuring some of the big names and talents in theatre, music and stand-up comedy.
The Stand-Up Comedy Fest and Meet the Cast sessions are the latest addition to the festival.
Starting from December 11, it will have plays Barff directed by Saurabh Shukla, One on One Part 2 by Rajit Kapur, Bali Aur Shambhu and Chuhal both directed by Manav Kaul, Loretta by Sunil Shanbag, The Gentlemen’s Club by Puja Sarup, Sheena Khalid, Rachael D’ Souza and Dhumrapaan by Akarsh Khurana.
“The day will begin meet the star session which will be moderated by poet and author Yatindra Mishra. This will be held at Book Café on the same premises and people will get an opportunity to talk to the actors, singers and stand-up comedians. Every day we will have two plays at 3:30 pm and a repeat at 9 pm. After first session of play, stand-up comedy fest will be organised. It will be followed by music festival,” says Bhupesh Rai, founder of Repertwahr.
The music festival will have Namit Das and Anurag Shanker, Parvaaz, Mame Khan, When Chai Met Toast, Neeraj Arya’s Kabir Café, Ankur and the Ghalat Family. It will conclude with the performance of Indian Ocean.
Music was a regular part of the fest but comedy has been added this year. “Stand-up comedy is fast making inroads into the hearts and minds of young urbanites across the country. So, we included it this time to bring more art forms under one umbrella,” says Bhupesh.
Stand-up comedians who will make Lucknowites laugh their heart out will include Kunal Kamra, Varun Thakur, Abhishek Upmanyu, Gaurav Kapoor, Sumit Anand, Rajneesh Kapoor and Aisi Taesi Democracy by Varun Grover.
Another attraction this year will be the Design and Craft Exhibition which will showcase the craftsmanship and masterpieces of local artisans of Lucknow. Tickets for plays this year have been kept at Rs 400-250 and Rs 500- 350.
For stand-up and music shows, tickets will be available at Rs 300 each which will be available on their website.
Big names in theatre fest will include Saurabh Shukla, Sadiya Siddiqui, Rajit Kapoor, Vrajesh Hirjee, Neil Bhoopalam, Sudhir Pandey, Manav Kaul and Kumud Mishra.
