I am a realist: Parineeti

The year is ending on a great note for Parineeti Chopra. The actor tasted success with her last hit Golmaal Again, which turned out be one of the blockbusters of 2017. The actor has an interesting line-up of films ahead, and speaks to us about her work.

Are you ready to shoulder the responsibility of an entire film on your own, at this stage?

I am a realist. I’ve to be realistic about the position I have in the industry at that time. If I am big enough a star to shoulder it; I will do it. I am an objective person. If I feel I am not, then I won’t waste someone’s money. Right now I am doing what’s good for me.

You’re costarring in two films with Arjun Kapoor. What’s your equation with him like?

I was his first co-star and he was sort of my first hero, because Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl (2011) was an ensemble. We have this amazing equation that we will never say anything nice to each other, but I know that we love each other. If I hear anyone saying anything negative about him, I will stand up and defend Arjun till the day I die.

Apart from the script and scale of a project, how important are the costars you work with?

If there is someone I don’t like it’s on my mind all the time. It distracts me. I am not usually distracted. I will make a lot of effort to try and like a person, but if it doesn’t happen then it doesn’t. Having said that, there are hardly any people in the world who I really don’t get along with.
