‘AFTER SACHIN, DHONI’S OUR ICON’
Arjun Kapoor can’t seem to stop praising MS Dhoni; confesses he’s a fanboy
Actor Arjun Kapoor may boast of a lot of fans, but not many know that he admires cricketer MS Dhoni in a big way. “Every time I meet Dhoni, I feel like a fanboy. In fact, I become a bigger fan of him (after every meeting). Honestly, very few people have had that kind of effect on me. He is unbelievably simple and cool,” he says.
Only simplicity
Arjun, who met Dhoni last month at a charity football match held in Mumbai, says there is “only simplicity” around the India’s star wicketkeeper-batsman. “There is no drama or chaos around him. I feel it’s some kind of a strange confidence that makes MS the person he is. And I am talking about his entire demeanour,” he says.
Interestingly, Amitabh Bachchan is another icon, who “has had the same kind of effect” on Arjun. “That, of course, happened for obvious reasons (smiles), and now, it’s MSD. What’s best is that he is the same with everyone, that’s an amazing quality,” he says.
Inspirational icon
“If I had to pick someone who has been inspirational as an icon in a 360-degree manner — over the last decade or so — it would be MS Dhoni after Sachin Tendulkar,” says. So, what does he admire the most in sportsmen such as Dhoni? “It’s your conduct, the way you are (as a person), how you carry yourself and the way you carry that badge with pride. Dhoni is a shining example of that.”
