W ith his first film set to hit the screens in December, Lucknow lad Arham Abbasi is enjoying his new found popularity.

“I’m feeling on top of the world. I’m seeing my hard work paying now. The past few years have been overwhelming in terms of achievement and success,” said the actor during his visit to his hometown.

Arham forayed into TV and films through modelling. After winning Mr Lucknow and Mr UP in 2010, Arham did not look back. “My acting career started out of the blue but that is how life is. I got a small break with ‘Savdhan India’ series but was disheartened to see myself on TV without getting a single full shot or dialogue. That was the turning point. I decided it was time to move to Mumbai where again I took up a job of assistant casting director, thinking it would help but, as it is said, there are no short cuts. I remember many of my acquaintances making fun of me but this didn’t dampen my spirit. And finally after a grilling phase of auditions in the ‘City of Dreams’ I got a break.”

This Christian College alumnus and Qaiserbagh resident, Arham believes no one can plan his or her career.

“I did shows on MTV Webbed, ‘It’s Complicated’ on Channel V and drama series like ‘Yeh Hai Mohabbatein’ and ‘Baawre’ before I finally got ‘Suhani Si Ek Ladki’. The role that was for merely four days turned into a year-long appearance and that’s when I finally tasted success. Working with stars and popular faces definitely gives one’s career a great boost,” he asserted.

Elaborating on his upcoming film, the actor said, “Game Over is an erotic thriller with layers of suspense and comedy. I got a well written role of a pizza delivery boy who is a real life stud. It was fun doing the film with known actors like Rakesh Bedi, Yashpal Sharma and Rajesh Sharma. I think working with such names is an obvious boost to both your talent and career.”

On continuing with his TV stint, he states, “I love both the mediums. My next film ‘Zindagi Mumbai’ will release in February 2018 but I’m going nowhere leaving TV or modelling. Experimenting with characters is very essential for my growth. By playing all kinds of characters across mediums, I can bring in variations in my style of acting. Hence I am open to doing all kind of good work.”
