Avadh Girls’ Degree College celebrated its annual Founder’s Day, recently. Zohra Chatterji, IAS (retd) graced the occasion as the chief guest. Among the other dignitaries present were the president of the managing committee Zarine Viccajee, prof Nishi Pandey, principal Upma Chaturvedi and members of the managing committee along with others.
The programme commenced with the ceremonious lamp lighting. Rabecca Abbas, the vicepresident of the student council presented the welcome address. An enchanting performance on Ganesh Vandana by Manu Sahu, Vaishnavi Tripathi, Sanjana Bhandari, Nivedita Mittal and Kratika Singh set the tone of the event. The evening also witnessed felicitation of the illustrious alumni of the college.
Parveen Talha, Z Viccajee, Meenakshi Singh, Kirti Narayan and Anita Bhatnagar Jain. The College magazine ‘The Avadhite’ 2016-17 was released. This was followed by a comedy play ‘Caught Out’ by Steve Shaw. The play was greatly appreciated and the audience was enthralled by the performances of Maryam Abbas, Vidushi Agarwal, Ankita Mathur, Shreya Dayal, Farah Q. Ahmad and Vishakha Singh. A group dance on Shiv Tandav was performed by Manu Sahu, Uneet Kaur, Saumya Dixit, Shachika Singh, Garima Srivastava, Muskaan Shukla and Deepanshi Manglani. A version of the Sufi Song by Shankar Mahadevan ‘Damadam Mast Qalandar’ was performed by Siddiqua Rizwan, Shreya Raj, Simran Kaur, Urvashi and Vidisha Srivastava.
The much-awaited event of the evening was thee Fashion Show that saw an amalgamation of style and grace on the stage. The hard work of the support staff was acknowledged and a token of appreciation was presented to them. The evening came to an end with an address by the chief guest who congratulated the students for putting up such a wonderful show.
