Writer Dilip Shukla wants more projects in UP

Scriptwriter Dilip Shukla of Dabangg fame is ready with his next project that’ll be shot entirely in UP.

“I was born in Dalipur village in Rae Bareli and have lived here in Alambagh, Lucknow but work took me to Mumbai. Now, that the shoot scenario has picked up here, I want more projects to come here so that our local talent can be utilized in acting and well as other departments. I wish to stay here more and with this project I feel it can happen,” he tells HT City.

Shukla says the project is set in Lucknow and its producer and director along with host of actors too are from the city.

“I have come on board as script and dialogue writer. Besides, I am also creatively involved in the project. At the moment I am not in a position to reveal the details but within a fortnight we will make an official announcement along with its actor, title and people involved in it,” he says.

Shukla has written dialogues of films like Andaaz Apna Apna, Ghayal, Ziddi, Mohra and Jai Ho and Dabangg series.

The film is set to go on floors in the middle of this month. “The mainstream actors have been almost finalized and we are going to have a new lead pair this time. But, in this film the story itself is the hero and rest of the characters have been etched around it,” he says. He has also written another film Main Uttaranarain Pathak that he is looking forward to direct.

“The film is set in Lucknow and Bithoor. I will make a directorial debut with the film but that will happen after this film and Dabangg3.”

Shukla is in the process of finalizing the third series of Dabangg that has already been announced and will be directed by Prabhu Deva. He did not confirm that if that film will also be shot in Uttar Pradesh as both the earlier installments were set in the state.
