KRITI WAS ONCE REPLACED BY AN ESTABLISHED ACTOR, DESPITE THE MAKERS WANTING A FRESH FACE

With only four films in four years, actor Kriti Sanon is clearly taking it slow but steady in Bollywood. Every year, a bunch of debutants try their luck in films, but Kriti feels that it depends on each person as to how their journey and career shape up.

Going back to the time when she started working in Bollywood, did she had to face rejections? “Obviously, when you just start [your career] and dream of becoming an actor, you meet [new] people and keep giving auditions. There are times when you don’t get selected or lose out on a role at the last minute,” she says, adding that it is a part and parcel of working in films.

“I remember there was this film, which I really wanted to do, though I can’t name it. The casting team and makers were looking for a fresh face for the longest time, and when the film eventually came out, they took someone who was already established. So, these things happen very often and it’s also disheartening,” Kriti tells us.

She adds, “Also, I know I was very raw initially. There were times when I gave an audition and I knew that I didn’t do well. But, the more I kept trying and practising, I improved.”

The actor adds that Bollywood is quite unpredictable when it comes to casting, so one has to hold their ground. “While waiting for a role, you continue to feel like it’s going to happen but it doesn’t. I feel everything happens for good. I am a very positive person. I keep trying... that’s what matters,” Kriti maintains.
