‘Entertaining requires energy’

Back in 2009, she started her career with Aladin. Ever since Jacqueline Fernandez has starred in a number of commercial hits such as Kick (2014), Judwaa 2 and Housefull 2 (2012) and Housefull 3 (2016). In fact, the Sri Lankan beauty feels being a commercial heroine is easier said than done.

“As a commercial actress, we have to be pretty much the entire package. And that’s what people enjoy. It is very difficult to be 100% in everything and tick all the boxes such as maintaining oneself, looking good, being stylish and keeping up the energy levels,” she says.

Jacqueline adds that “entertaining requires a huge amount of energy”. “It is an ongoing job. Your work doesn’t finish till the time you leave the set. For that, you have to go into trainings such as dancing and other exercise forms. All those things are required for you to get into the ‘commercia l’ zone,” she says.

The Brothers (2015) actor admits that she loves it [commercial films] and that she “wouldn’t do something that comes easily”. “There have been times when I went through sleepless nights because I was shooting five to six films together besides live performances, etc. And such things don’t come easily. That’s the challenge of being a commercial heroine in this industry. It’s easy for people to give up and say, ‘Oh, it’s not worth it,’ but for me it is [worth it],” she says.
