Singer Sukhwinder Singh is inarguably one of the most energetic and accomplished artists Bollywood has. With his live shows being complete sellouts, very few can exhibit the same level of energy on stage as him.

Live shows are no mean feat, as artists have to give their fans a chance to listen to them in person. However, some prefer to lip-sync their songs, like Canadian hitmaker Justin Bieber did this year in his Mumbai concert. In what was perhaps one of the most anticipated events of the year, he was widely criticised by the attendees for not performing his songs live.

Commenting on it, Sukhwinder, known for songs such as Chaiyya Chaiyya (Dil Se, 1998), says, “Sab log karte hain, but rarely. Bieber ne too much kiya. He created a mess. He has only one quality — he’s good looking. Baaki sab disqualifications hai. Saare western artists itne stupid nahi hain, saare nahi karte.” “Hum log jab show karte hain, jab tak gala gaaye nahi, tab tak usko show nahi maante,” adds the singer, who was in the Capital recently for a show. He goes on to reveal the secret to his insane energy on stage. “The most important element of live shows is the content. You should know what you are doing because your audience is right there in front of you; they observe everything, he shares.

“Agar aapke mannerisms mein ‘naughtypan’ aur grace hai, then you’re a star. I personally feel that your energy increases as soon you start feeling relaxed on stage and enjoy your performance,” he adds. “Agar aap nonsense talk kar dete hain fun ke liye, toh vahaan se pata chalta hai aap mein star element nahi hai,” quips the singer, whose latest song, Zinda Hai in Salman Khan-Katrina Kaif starrer Tiger Zinda Hai is already creating waves.

His upcoming projects include Thugs Of Hindostan and Aanand L. Rai’s untitled film, which will have Shah Rukh Khan playing the role of a dwarf.
