I would love to work on an MS Subbulakshmi biopic, says Aditi

Everyone has an idol who inspires them to carve their own niche. Similarly, Aditi Rao Hydari decided to become an actor and pursue films because of two renowned personalities — Manisha Koirala and Audrey Hepburn. “People said my mum looks like Audrey Hepburn and later I was introduced to Roman Holiday. I have Audrey Hepburn memorabilia all over my room. And then one day I watched Manisha Koirala singing ‘Kehna hi kya’ in Bombay (1995), and I wanted to be her. I watched all her movies, even the not-so-great ones. I loved how fragile and strong she was on screen, and how her eyes spoke effortlessly,” she says.

Aditi has played the lead as well as some notable supporting characters in various Hindi and regional movies. Recently, the actor even won the Best Actor Award for a Tamil film. So, does the screen time now matter to her when she signs a film? “It’s great to have lots of screen time because you get to do more of what you love, which is to act and be a drama queen. For me, being in front of the camera is like being on the magic faraway tree. You get to live a complete journey. I take on a cameo or a special part if it’s got a complete journey, even if it is fifteen minutes. If I love the director and his vision, and if the character stays in your heart long after you’ve read it, you literally ache to play it,” says the Wazir actor.

Aditi is a trained Indian classical dancer and hopes to showcase her dance skills more often on screen. “I’d love to do an MS Subbulakshmi biopic. I love dance. I would love to do a film like Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and play a warrior princess,” she says. Besides dance, Aditi likes to delve in music, yoga, skin care, and holistic medicine. “I want to learn professional skin care so I can vouch for its authenticity and ingredients used,” explains Aditi.
