Guests at UP Investors Meet get to witness UP’s rich art and culture
A fter a hectic day that meant business, guests at the UP Investors’ Summit got to see various cultural colours of the state all at one place. The cultural show held on the opening day saw a beautiful medley of various folk forms.
Jhansi’s Rai folk, Mathura’s Braj and charkula folk, Faizabad’s faruwahi folk, Sonbhadra’s tribal, karama and barasingha folk and Lucknow’s dhindiya folk was performed at different spots of Indira Gandhi Pratishthan.
The highlight of the day was a folk dance medley choreographed by Bansi Kaul.
Over 100 artistes performed during the entire sequence. The event saw kathak performance by Pt Anuj Mishra and his disciples. It was followed by various folk art forms from the state. The high point came when artistes from Braj performed Holi with flowers. The mayur dance too mesmerized the guests and delegates.
“Initially, we were supposed to perform a small item in front of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other corporate bigwigs but it could not happen. Our kathak performances started with stuti followed by kathak ballet in which the focus was on gat (speed) — like 103 chakkar on teen taal. We then showcased how from Lord Shiva and Ganesh kathak form originated, came to earth and have evolved,” says Mishra, who performed with his 8 students.
Besides the summit venue, folk performances were also held at Amausi airport, Charbagh railway station, 1090 crossing, Fun Republic mall and Husadiya crossing.
Various folk items that were showcased on the occasion, included Alha, Bhojpuri, Faruwahi, PaiDanda, Katputli, Birha, Rai, Charkula, Faruwahi folk, Tribal, Karama, Barasingha, Dhindiya and magic show, said Dr Lavkush Dwivedi of culture department.
Colourful folk forms from various part of Uttar Pradesh were showcased on the opening day of UP Investor Summit on Thursday. HT lensmen capture the performances held on the occasion
