Actor Madhurima Tulli’s favourite fairytale is Cindrella, and she is sure that is going to remain so. In a chat with us, she reveals her favourite reads, genres, and more. Which books are currently on your reading list? I am currently reading Her Again: Becoming Meryl Streep (by Michael Schulman). I want to read The Colour Purple by Alice Walker and Daddy-LongLegs by Jean Webster, as well. Which is the best book you’ve read so far? Honestly, I have just gotten back to books. I feel terrible saying that, but after my college days, I spent less time with books, and I regret it. The last one I read was The Immortals of Meluha by Amish Tripathi, and loved it. Which genres do you enjoy reading? Which ones do you avoid? I enjoy romance, mystery, and biographies the most. Which book do you think everyone should read at least once? The Immortals of Meluha. If you want to start reading, this book is the best way to start. If you are a reader, then you can finish it in a couple of days. What makes it a good read is the simplicity of the language and the easy narrative style. I would suggest this book and the the other trilogy two to even that are people part who of don’t like mythology. It’s wonderfully written. Which author would you choose to write your life story? Probably Ernest Hemingway. No one can describe life the way he can. What do you like to read when you travel? When I finish with all the magazines and newspapers, I turn to my book. Which is your favourite fairy tale or folk story? Cinderella was and will always be a favourite. What kind of reader were you as a child? Which childhood stories have stayed with you? I wasn’t an avid reader even as a kid. But I used to read short stories from time to time. The stories of Mowgli, Red Riding Hood and Cinderella have been close to my heart, as my Ma used to read them to me. If you had to name one book that made you who you are today, which would it be? I am still waiting for that book.
