SAUMYA'S DESIGNER WOES

Saumya Tandon has been on the hunt for her dream home for quite some time. So when she found a property that fit her requirements — a plush, fivebedroom apartment in Andheri (W) — she was thrilled to start with the interior design. Saumya and her husband, Saurabh Devendra Singh, were quite excited about moving to the new place, but they currently face a setback — the contractor she had hired to design her home has quit midway through the project, citing Saumya’s hectic work hours.

Understandably, the actor is disappointed and angry. She says, “This is the first time I have been rejected by my interior designer and contractor. We had a meeting and were supposed to decide on some things, but when we were supposed to meet to discuss the budget, he sent a message saying he doesn’t like to work with someone as busy as me. It came as a surprise that I was dumped like a hot potato (laughs). I have a crazy schedule at work, so it is important for me to work with someone who matches my dates and can meet me when I am free. To each his own, but I feel there are people in other professions who are as busy or busier than me yet find interior designers and contractors to work with. I can’t possibly leave my job to attend these meetings.”

Saumya and Saurabh have taken possession of the apartment from the builder, but her plans to move in have been postponed until the interior designing job is finished. “I am looking out for an interior designer and contractor, so this is an open letter to everyone out there.”
