According to the Chinese calendar, this year is considered as the year of the dog. And to celebrate our furry friends all across the globe, HT Café picked some stylish options to make the paw-fect statement.

According to celebrity stylist Ekta Shah, from fabric prints to dazzling wallpaper; witty portraits to rooftop sculptures, there are plenty of ways to celebrate and enjoy man and woman’s best friend. And, if you want to include the prints in your wardrobe there are a variety of options to choose from. “You can have the motifs on a racerback tee, T-shirts and even on Indian wear such as kurtis to keep up with the trend. When there are multiple prints of a dog on the top, then go for a simple bottom preferably singlecolour bottom. You can also try denim in various colours. Even track pants for a chilledout look,” adds Shah.

For Payal Gurdasani from House of PJ, there is no such thing as personal space when you own a dog. “We work with prints that are quirky and which people relate to. I love [dogs] and own a Labrador. So, not having a dog print on my pyjama’s [designs] is not an option,” says Gurdasani, adding, “Our sleepwear is made of 100% cotton. What brings us to incorporate dog prints in our sleepwear is our love for dogs. We all adore our four-legged furry babies and love to have them on our jammies too.”

From beagles and poodles on shirts, to dog noses on dresses, name it and you got it. In honour of the year of the dog, Moschino featured Betty Boop’s canine companion Pudgy in a shirt dress, similarly, UK-based textile designer Julie Williams, who loves turning her quirky creations into silk scarves, made a scarf with a husky dog on it. Even celebrities such Emma Watson, Paris Hilton, Soha Ali Khan, Frieda Pinto are among the many animal lovers who don’t shy away from sporting their love for their furry friends on their garments.
