COLOURFUL CANVAS
Kshitij Misra, a student of Faculty of Architecture was thrilled after he along with a students’ group finished painting the college canteen. Kshitij felt that he has now left a stamp of his creativity on the college canteen for everyone to see.
“I was never been very good at painting. So the insecure side of me never let me grab a paintbrush and colour my thoughts. Now, after we all painted our college canteen I no more doubt my talent.”
Another student adds that a colourful canteen is always a better option to sit in instead of a cemented box.
Faculty of Architecture, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University hosted the art segment Pravah Art and Cultural fest on its Tagore Marg campus. The zonal level winners from engineering colleges all over UP, under the umbrella of AKTU, were the participants in the finals. An array of competitions such as face painting, rangoli making, T-shirt painting, mehendi design, collage making and poster making were held. Around 80 students participated in the events.
Yashashvi Singh, B.Arch third year student said such events enhance the creativity and learning skills of the students. “It was a good step to bring whole college together and enlighten the campus with the happy young faces to produce such a beautiful outcome,” she said.
Since the functionality of the building is not the only thing defining it, they painted their canteen under the guidance of Colorathon street artists from Delhi. The ordinary looking place has turned into a centre of attraction.
Students working together for approximately 14 hours at a stretch showed how unity, compassion, contribution and togetherness can turn into a piece of art under the guidance of faculty members and dean Vandana Sehgal.
