REAL LIFE UNDERWATER
International photography exhibition, ‘Into The Blue’ by Aditya Havelia, curated by eminent photographer and academician prof Farhat Basir Khan, was held at Kalasrot on Wednesday. Lucknow University vice-chancellor inaugurated the exhibition.
After clicking some 1,000 images in over eight years, Aditya showcased selected 53 photographs. The exhibition displayed work from Mauritius, Malaysia, Lakshadweep, Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Karnataka. The collection includes pictures of species like octopus, turtles, fishes, corals, star fish, shrimps, clamps, sharks and lot from the life underwater.
Aditya started taking pictures from 2010 and finally came up with a plethora of underwater rare species but with that he also captured the waste which is eventually accumulated in the sea.
The photographer says, “Our seas are becoming a dump yard. Sooner or later it will affect us in some form. The waste which we dump around us is accumulated on the seabed. Because of that the coral reefs are dying and underwater life is deteriorating. Our ecosystem and future generations will face issues if we do not pay attention to it today.”
The exhibition is a unique presentation for the ones who cannot explore the beauty of underwater in their daily lives. The exhibition is open for public display till April 4 from 11am to 7pm.
