Face the sun fearlessly with these simple tips

-

Summer means scorching heat, high humidity and harsh sun rays that can make your skin discoloured, dry and dull. Here’s how to keep your skin healthy.

Go easy on your skin: Since oil-producing sebaceous glands produce more oil during summer, we end up using harsher face washes. But these can strip the skin off its essential oils which will make our oil glands overactive. This results in acne. Go for mild foaming cleanser instead of strong cleansers.

Sunscreen ready: UV rays are one of the main causes of skin discolouration. This can be prevented by applying sunscreen an hour before you step out into the sun. Opt for anti-fungal

products: Summer attracts germs and fungal infections. Use antifungal body washes, lotions and powders to keep germs and infections at bay.

Exfoliate: Gentle exfoliating at least twice or thrice a week will help remove dead skin cells and it will also improve blood circulation to the face. It will also allow your skin to absorb the moisturising products better.

Hydrate: The heat can make you sweat and lose moisture. Replace heavy creams you used during winter with a light, waterbased moisturising lotion. Apply it as soon as you take a bath to lock in the water molecules. Face mists: Carry a face mist in your bag and spray it whenever you need to soothe and refresh your skin. It restores moisture. Minimal makeup: Under bright sunlight, natural looking mineral makeup works the best. Apply very less makeup and let your skin breathe.
