Vandana Pathak of ‘Khichdi’ fame has essayed many characters from comic to villain but the actor feels that making someone laugh is the toughest job on planet.

“I love acting and enjoy all kind of roles. But I consider myself lucky that I easily got a chance to make people laugh. It’s been 14 years since I have done comedy and it’s something that comes naturally to me. But that doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy other genres. While my shows like Hum Paanch and Ek Mahal Ho Sapnon Ka gave me recognition, Khichdi put me on a new high. I don’t have words to thank those who gave me these opportunities of a lifetime,” she says.

Vandana has also done some challenging roles in Yeh Meri Life Hai, RK Laxman Ki Duniya and Saath Nibhaana Sathiya where she played a negative character which was loved by one and all.

Talking about her two decade old career, Vandana who was in the city promoting her new show says the switch over to villainous character was not an easy one.

“When I was offered a negative role I knew I had to give it my best so I gave it all like I have been doing with my comedy shows. And then when the audiences accepted it whole heartedly I was on cloud nine but still somewhere down the line I believe that making people laugh is the toughest job on this planet. But it does give me a kick so when producer JD came back to me with the offer for Khichdi’s new season I couldn’t say no because it’s something I was waiting to come my way again,” she says.

Vandana is all set to make a comeback in a comedy avatar on television with her cult comedy show Khichdi that aired during the early 2000s.

The show has retained the original cast; Supriya Pathak, Vandana, Anang Desai, J D Majethia and Rajeev Mehta. “Khichdi has given me a lot of name and fame in the industry. So to say no to the show would have been like saying no to family members and I wouldn’t do that. Shooting for Khichdi has been like homecoming for me and I am enjoying meeting my Parekh ‘parivaar’ (family).

The show is all set to be on air during mid of April 2018 on Star Plus. We all are keeping our fingers crossed,” says Vandana.
