Rashmi Singh is the joint secretary of Ashok-Shyama Charitable Trust, Aligarh, and is working for menstrual hygiene management in Aligarh and other districts of Uttar Pradesh. She started the movement in December 2013 and has reached more than 50,000 girls and women in Aligarh. She also gives sessions on menstrual hygiene management in schools through power point presentati­ons and then analyses students’ knowledge through pre- and post-session questionna­ires. She also organised a cultural programme ‘Dance your way’ to make the society aware about menstruati­on and celebrate World Menstrual Hygiene Day that she initiated in Aligarh. Rashmi has also written a book ‘Wish you happy periods’ on menstruati­on in Hindi to expand its reach. She has narrated all myths and facts about menstruati­on in the form of stories.
