Meet Mathura’s singing sensation
Mathura-lad Hemant Brijwasi recently won the singing reality show Rising Star India-2 . He described his journey from winning Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Little Champs in 2009 to his latest win as overwhelming. “I practised day and night, with just one aim to prove myself and today my hard work has paid off, the credit goes to my audience,” said Hemant.
Talking about his inspiration, he says, “My inspiration is and will be Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan saab. It’s my wish to be like them. Where as in the industry, I look up to Shankar Mahadevan, it was he who encouraged me to try other genres as well and this did help me because I would never have had the confidence, to explore another genre, if it hadn’t been for him” he said. He is not only a vocalist but plays table in his leisure time.
Hemant’s inclination towards music started at the age of four, his mentor and guide was his own father, Hukam Brijwasi.
He claims that the talent runs in the family, and he feels blessed to have achieved so much.
Hemant won the Color TV show with whopping 88% live voting, “I have an emotional connect with the audience. Not just from India but from abroad as well, there were people congratulating me and showing their love and support. The win says it all for me,” says the youngster from Uttar Pradesh.
