SHAYARANA SHAAM... KUCH ALAG SI!
Poet Khushbir Singh Shaad’s book ‘Halat Kuch Alag Si’ comprising 118 ghazals was released by noted scholar and literary figure Sharib Rudaulvi, Rekhta founder Farhat Ehsaas, poet Shariq Kaiifi, Urdu scholar Ashfaq Hussain, and journalist Sharat Pradhan, at Buddha Shodh Sansthan auditorium.
Addressing the gathering, chief guest on the occasion justice Shabihul Hasnain said: “The book has imprints of ‘Lucknow School of Urdu Poetry’ as it attacks system in a subtle way.”
Speaking on the occasion Sharib Rudaulvi lauded the work of Shaad in Urdu poetry. “Shaad has explained the pain and happiness of a common man in very simple words. His ‘shayari’ is of different genre and of high class.”
Talking about Shaad, Farhat Ehsaas said, “He has highlighted those shades of life which rather would have gone unnoticed. His book has ghazals touching all shades of life.”
Shaad’s childhood friend Sharat Pradhan said, “I came to know the calibre of Shaad’s poetry during an event in Pakistan when I was there to cover the visit of the then prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. A gentlemen sitting next to me said if you are from Lucknow then you must have heard about Khushbir Singh Shaad. He is a legendary poet based in your city.”
“Later, I came to know the gentlemen who praised Shaad’s poetry was none other than group editor of Jang newspaper of Pakistan Mehmood Shaam. I am proud to be his friend,” Pradhan said.
Khushbir Singh Shaad thanked Lucknow Expressions Society for organising the programme on the launch of his book.
He said he shifted to Jalandhar seven years ago but his heart still beat for Lucknow. Urdu scholar from Canada Ashfaq Hussain also praised Shaad and compared him to modern greats.
Later, a poetry session was also organised in which Ashfaq Hussain, Shariq Kaifi, Ranjit Singh Chauhan, Farhat Ehsaas and Khushbir Singh Shaad recited their works.
