A quick expert guide on how to pick your fitness clothing for summer
There was a time when workout wasn’t a public affair. But, with social media keeping everyone on their toes, showing style muscle has become the new norm. But often, those pophued shoes or the tight tights may not serve the purpose of combining functionality with style. Here, experts tell you how to choose right.
SMART FABRICS
The best choice during summer for an outdoor activity or gym workout is relaxed-fit clothing. “Opt for fabrics that are light and breathable, ensuring that the sweat does not stick to your skin,” says fitness expert Sunny Arora. Choose wicking fabrics that draw moisture away from the body.
“These are called ‘dry fit’. However, 100% cotton absorbs way more moisture and is not suitable for workout,” says designer Namrata Joshipura, who is an avid runner. Choosing ‘ethically’ has also become a thing. “While 60% of our sports apparel is made out of synthetic fabric, the trend is changing. People are opting for quality activewear with an organic touch,” says designer Nida Mahmood.
RIGHT COLOURS, FIT
“Invest in a muscle tee which has a dropped armhole, it pairs well with shorts or tights. For running, fitted compression style shorts are good. Also, wear shorts and a sleeveless jersey while running. Add a cap or a visor to protect from the sun,” says Joshipura.
