Fashion trends? What’s that, asks Radhika Apte
From her Bollywood roles to her fashion sensibility, 32year-old actor Radhika Apte loves to let her individuality shine. Here’s what the Pad Man actor has to say about style.
Sustainable fashion is a hot topic right now. How can one spread awareness about healthy fashion processes that minimise environmental harm?
It’s the need of the hour. One can be more aware of the environment, and know that nature comes before [us]. For example, a lot of my clothes are cotton...We need to be aware of what we are wearing and what impact it has on the environment. I wish to be more educated about this ... more aware because then I can spread better awareness.
The credit for your style goes to...
Me, because I focus on comfort. But mostly it goes to my colleagues: stylists and designers. They help me understand what’s in [fashion]. They make me try certain things and encourage me to experiment, so most of the credit goes to them.
A fashion trend that you are obsessed with...
I don’t know what a fashion trend is because I’m not keen on knowing that. But I always like a vintage look, and that’s something I will never stop liking.
Are you a shoe person or bag?
There are days when I am a bag person and days when I’m a shoe person. However, I think, I love bags more. But I’m a very lazy to change bags. Because I know what’s in which pocket and when I change it, I forget what is where so I try and stick to one.. But I have a lot of bags!
One fashion trend you are bored of seeing?
I guess it would be constantly seeing gowns on red carpet. If some one breaks that, it’ll be interesting.
Is following a diet a crucial part of your fitness?
Of course! I don’t go to a dietician so I do it on my own. I eat everything, carbs to fats, ice creams, chocolates, literally everything — but in moderation. I have plenty of green in a given day. All I do is balance it out, but eat everything.
When it comes to beauty treatments, do you go for home remedies?
It has been three years [since] I visited a [beauty] parlour for treatments [like] waxing and all. I just make sure to remove makeup completely from my face; I clean my face 3-4 times a day. I also moisturise it really well. I go for a lot of hair treatments for sure, spas and all because my hair goes through a lot of heat and colour constantly, so it requires a lot of care. Good amount of water, sleep and good food is also crucial, as is understanding what my stomach can and cannot digest.
