‘Motherhood made me realize my mom’s greatness’

- SHRUTI MEHROTRA

This Mother’s Day, young mommies of small kids realized the tedious, never ending tasks of their mothers and everything that they went through for them. They provide a glimpse of their newly transformed lives, where they step into their mother’s shoes.

While some revealed their experience with smiles and laughter, others listed their new responsibilities. They agreed in unison that becoming a mother has open doors to unconditional love.

Homemaker Akshika Mehrotra, mother of one-yearold says, “Motherhood is a roller-coaster ride with apparently no stoppage for feeling any other emotion except sheer joy. It is stressful at times but it is worth it, especially when you see your baby grow and chuckle. Coping up with Ayaan’s tantrums, scheduling his meal times, play times and naptimes, I see my life revolving around him. I am no more the old version of me. There has been a huge transformation physically and mentally, but I won’t trade this feeling for anything.”

Without prior experience, motherhood for women is like a one-way road to fun experiments and mixed emotions. That is a time they learn from former experience and take help from wherever they can, says Abha Singh, a homemaker.

“It has its own ups and downs. Being a mother of a girl (Anika), I now realise the sense of alertness my mother used to have, whenever I went out. I feel the same way for my daughter, the constant need to be near her and save her from tripping, or falling. I want to be there for her all the time. It is adventurous and fun, to see the world from her perspective. This Mother’s Day I will celebrate with my mother, not just as a daughter but a mother too.”

Bureaucrat Khushboo Khatri, mother of 1-year-old Yuvaan says, “I have matured and become more sensible, than I previously was. I see myself in the mirror and I know it’s not just the physical change that I’ve undergone. I love my mother more now, knowing what all she has done for me, what all she has gone through. My baby is my life, the tiny tot follows me around the house and my happiness depends on his.

With Mother’s Day coming up, I feel like going back the memory lane and thanking my mother for everything she has done for me”

While some mothers devote all their time to nurturing their children, there are some who juggle finely between work and home.

Software engineer Cheena Bhati, mother of 2-year-old Kavya says, “Early motherhood is blissful as well as tiring. Especially as a working mother, I have to be on my toes all the time to keep things at place. I run through the day to make ends meet. But at the end of the day, when I see my baby smiling and in good health, all the struggle becomes worthwhile. I am able to see the world from two lenses more now, my mother’s and my baby’s. I guess that

is all I can say.”
