The way the Veere Di Wedding cast treated me caught me off-guard: Sumeet
Actor Sumeet Vyas, paired opposite Kareena Kapoor Khan in the multi-starrer Veere Di Wedding and the only male lead in the film, is in awe of the latter’s professionalism and commitment to the craft. “It was lovely working with her. She comes on set prepared, and hits the right note in every take,” he gushes.
Having been cast opposite an A-list star and not having had a chance to interact with Kareena prior to filming, brought its own set of apprehensions for Sumeet. However, his worries went away when the entire cast, including the four female actors — Kareena, Sonam Kapoor Ahuja, Swara Bhaskar, and Shikha Talsania — made him feel at ease.
“The way the cast treated me, honestly caught me offguard, as I was an outsider to their circle, while all of them are friends off-screen, too,” Sumeet says, admitting that he had come on board the film “with my own set of prejudices about films with big stars”.
“I was pleasantly surprised with the way everyone was treated on the set — with respect and dignity. It’s only natural when you’re working with a bunch of highly successful and famous people, to want to protect your dignity and find that space where you can deliver your best. I didn’t need to put any efforts in this direction,” Sumeet recalls.
Was the actor bothered by the fact that Sonam, Kareena and Shikha hail from a film background? “Honestly, I’m too in my own zone to care about who comes from where. For me, after half an hour, they’re all co-workers working towards one goal — to tell a story,” he brushes it off.
