I have nothing to wear…

…says every woman when she peeks into her closet. HT City finds out how to make this fashion nightmare go away

Standing in front of your wardrobe, have you ever thought that you have nothing to wear? If the answer is a big yes, then you are not alone. “I think majority of the time, girls want to keep up with the fast changing trends and they always feel their wardrobe maybe too last season. This is clearly a case of having too many choices to pick from. In such situations, only classic styles save the day,” says fashion designer Shahin Mannan.

Sharing her own experience, fashion designer Julie Shah says, “I try on at least two to three outfits before finalising my choice. After the first or second outfit, when I put on my “I cannot find anything to wear” look, my kids literally look at me in disbelief, muttering, ‘Your closet is filled with clothes that we bought during our holidays just a few weeks ago’”.

“And they’re right! I think, when we keep browsing through the same closet every day to find clothes for work and night outs, we become immune to seeing the same outfits time and again,” she adds and we couldn’t agree more. So, how does one solve this issue? According to fashion designer Silky Bindra, the best way to overcome this is to invest in basics. “We are

living in times where every day a new trend pops up. It’s hard to keep up with all of them and that’s when we think what we have isn’t worth wearing anymore. Invest in quality basic pieces that you can wear according to your personal style. Go for a neutral colour palette with a few accent shades and you will always have something new to look forward to. You can further amp up your look with statement accessories and you are good to go,” says Bindra.
