Hosting celebrity TV shows gives this Lucknow girl a high
Having worked as an RJ, emcee, actor and anchor, Lucknow girl Anupama Singh is no less a celebrity.
But what’s keeping her excited like a teenage fan these days is her latest job assignment of getting to interview Salman Khan and costars of his upcoming movie for a TV show.
“It was a complete fan girl moment for me. A dream come true. I remember falling in love with Salman after watching Jab Pyar Kiya Toh Darna Kya. It was an amazing experience meeting him and interviewing him,” says Anupama, currently busy with two live shows on app and a celebrity show on TV.
“I am hosting a talk show called Asian Variety Show for Sony Entertainment Asia that is of the oldest Bollywood show for Indians abroad. It is aired in 134 countries, including Pakistan. Also I am working on two digital platforms on swoo app for a show Spirit of life and on live.me app The Anupma show where I have 2.5 million followers,” says Anupama who has done her schooling from Army Public School.
“My father was in army and hence we had to travel a lot and stay at many cities.”
“Though my father loved Lucknow and we lived in Aminabad area here, for me it was more of a holiday home as my father was in a transferable job. Finally I did my graduation from Ambala College and then came back to Lucknow before moving to Kurukshetra University for my postgraduation.”
After her Masters in Mass Communication and she took up a job with Vividh Bharti as a radio announcer.
“Mumbai proved to be real turning point in my life. I realized here what I really I wanted to do in my life,” says Anupama who started off with small roles in shows like Savdhaan India, Kismat Connection, Bhanwar, Code Red and Adaalat.
But acting was not what she really enjoyed and hence also started exploring the anchor in herself.
“I took up real live events for a number of big brands. And then my own show happened where my first guest was choreographer Saroj Khan. It was a little apprehensive for me but soon I got comfortable with playing a host and since then it has been no looking back.”
