Athree-day theatre and art festival Limelight was held in the city, recently. The fest founded by two entrepreneurs Rajika Mittra and Pooja Chadha was organised at the Hyatt Regency Lucknow. This unique event saw aweinspiring talent and art gathered under one roof.
Theatre revivalist and Padma Shri Mohammad Ali Baig presented the opening act: an Indian Masterpiece – ‘Quli: Dilon ka Shahzaada’. The Urdu play, which has already been staged a number of times in the country as well as at other known theatre festivals and venues across the world. The story of the play was based on the historic lovelegend of the founder of Hyderabad, poet-king Quli Qutub Shah and his lady love, Bhagmati.
This tale of two star-crossed lovers and artistes set in the 17th century kingdom of Golconda was a treat for the audience. The play also included Quawalis, tandav and shadow dance that added to the narrative while, nazms written by Shah himself was the highlight of the play.
The festival’s finale saw ‘That’s Life!’ by Sharon Prabhakar.
‘That’s Life!’ was a portal of the triumphs and tribulations that the actress-singer has encountered over the years. The audiences was totally mesmerised with Sharon’s performance as she brought the house down with this musical biopic of her life.
