Athree-day the­atre and art fes­ti­val Lime­light was held in the city, re­cently. The fest founded by two en­trepreneurs Ra­jika Mit­tra and Pooja Chadha was or­gan­ised at the Hy­att Re­gency Lucknow. This unique event saw awein­spir­ing tal­ent and art gath­ered un­der one roof.

The­atre re­vival­ist and Padma Shri Mo­ham­mad Ali Baig pre­sented the open­ing act: an In­dian Mas­ter­piece – ‘Quli: Dilon ka Shahza­ada’. The Urdu play, which has al­ready been staged a num­ber of times in the coun­try as well as at other known the­atre fes­ti­vals and venues across the world. The story of the play was based on the his­toric lovele­gend of the founder of Hy­der­abad, poet-king Quli Qu­tub Shah and his lady love, Bhag­mati.

This tale of two star-crossed lovers and artistes set in the 17th cen­tury king­dom of Gol­conda was a treat for the au­di­ence. The play also in­cluded Quawalis, tan­dav and shadow dance that added to the nar­ra­tive while, nazms writ­ten by Shah him­self was the high­light of the play.

The fes­ti­val’s fi­nale saw ‘That’s Life!’ by Sharon Prab­hakar.

‘That’s Life!’ was a por­tal of the tri­umphs and tribu­la­tions that the ac­tress-singer has en­coun­tered over the years. The au­di­ences was to­tally mes­merised with Sharon’s per­for­mance as she brought the house down with this mu­si­cal biopic of her life.
