Anil, Salman never let a newcomer like me feel left out, says Freddy

Actor Freddy Daruwala, who played the baddie in the multi-starrer film Race 3, has a simple philosophy when it comes to choosing films — reaching a wider audience. “I am a greedy actor,” says Freddy, adding, “I want to reach as many people as I can.”

The blue-eyed boy, who has also done a Gujarati movie (Rachna No Dabbo, 2017), says, “Regional cinema is growing and its reach is increasing. In acting school, we’re taught that acting is beyond language; so for me, doing films in different languages is not a problem. It’s about doing something new and reaching out to as many people as I can.”

Meanwhile, he is all praise for his Race 3 co-stars Anil Kapoor and Salman Khan. “They are good, secure actors. They know their craft very well and do not let a newcomer like me feel left out. I can only imagine how many newcomers they would’ve met, but Anil sir and Salman sir are good people who know how to make everyone on the sets feel comfortable. I have learned a lot from them,” he says.

Part of films such as Holiday (2014), Force 2 (2016), and Commando 2 (2017), Freddy has been doing negative and action roles in Bollywood films. What he now wants to do are romantic roles.

“I am a well-built, tall guy and I have always loved being part of action films. But I am very keen on doing romantic roles or a different genre now. However, I know that action can reach adults as well as youngsters. So, I don’t have any problem in doing it again and again,” he shares.
