English Babu, Desi Girl: Priyanka, Nick to wed?
After the rumours, comes the (almost) confirmation that Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas are on the verge of making their relationship official — and their wedding might take place this October!
According to People magazine, Nick proposed to Priyanka on her birthday, July 18. The singer reportedly closed down a Tiffany jewellery store in New York City to buy an engagement ring for the actor, according to an insider. The wedding chatter started last night, when the portal Bollywoodlife said that Priyanka had opted out of Salman Khan’s film Bharat. A source tells us that its shooting would start from August. “Another schedule was going to be shot in Delhi from October onwards,” the source adds. Since the news of her opting out of Bharat broke, talks have been rife that Priyanka decided this because of her wedding to Nick.
Another source tells us, “Priyanka will get married by October or November. She will first finish the shooting of Shonali Bose’s directorial, The Sky Is Pink, and then will take a break for her special day.”
While our messages to Bharat director Ali Abbas Zafar went unanswered, he tweeted on Friday morning, “Yes Priyanka Chopra is no more part of @Bharat_ TheFilm & and the reason is very very special, she told us in the Nick of time about her decision and we are very happy for her ... Team Bharat wishes @priyankachopra loads of love & happiness for life.” The tweet more than spelled it out — with the ‘Nick’.
Salman Khan, the male lead of Bharat, wasn’t upset with Priyanka. A source reveals, “She shared the news of her marriage with Salman. She told him that she needs time to prepare for it, which is why she won’t be able to work on Bharat. And Salman was more than happy for her, and obliged.”
