Why Sonakshi Sinha didn’t take formal training in acting

Actor Sonakshi Sinha has delivered some power-packed performances in films, and so it comes as a surprise when she tells us that she never wanted to be an actor while growing up. And that’s the reason she didn’t go to a film school or take formal training in acting. But does she regret that now, we ask.

“I have no regrets what so ever. I never wanted to be an actor when I was growing up. It was never even a thought that I wanted to be an actor. Honestly, now that I think about it, I don’t think I would have enjoyed learning acting,” says Sonakshi, adding that learning “on the job” is much better than receiving formal training.

“I don’t know about others, but I don’t think that acting is something that one can teach. You imbibe it from the surroundings, from the people around you and subtle nuances and expressions. That’s why, for me, experience is the best teacher. I have learned mostly on job. Be it from the technician, the director or even my co-stars,” says the actor whose latest release is Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi.

The 31-year-old hopes that she never “stops learning” on the sets, “I just hope that this learning on the job thing doesn’t stop. I always treat my next film as my first film, because that’s how I am built. It’s not a strategy or anything like that. That helps me to keep my enthusiasm alive, and also stops me from putting myself above others. That’s my approach to life generally. Whenever I start something new, it’s a fresh start for me,” says the actor.
